HGV operator fined £1,900 for drivers’ hours offences in Northern Ireland

Eight charges relating to HGV drivers who failed to take the required daily rest resulted in a fine of £1,900 for a County Antrim-based HGV operator following an intelligence-led investigation by the Driver and Vehicle Agency (DVA into tachograph and drivers’ hours irregularities at the firm.

The charges were brought under the Passenger and Goods Vehicle (Recording Equipment) Regulations (NI) 1996 and the Road Traffic (NI) Order 1981.

The £1,900 fine would have covered the cost of a tachograph analysis and road transport compliance management Software as a Service such as Smartanalysis for 38 driver years!

With 8 drivers this is almost 5 years of saved time, money and headaches!
