New DVSA Guide to Load Security

Load security should be of primary concern for all commercial road transport operators. Effective load securing prevents goods from falling onto roads and ensures that the goods arrive undamaged.

This new DVSA guide complements the existing Department for Transport (DfT) guidance and the European Commission (EC) code of practice.

It outlines DVSA enforcement methods, where the burden of responsibility for load securing lies, and the potential consequences of failing to secure loads correctly.  It offers useful advice on loading for various vehicle and load types.

It also provides useful links to other industry specific guidance and a section explaining what your responsibilities are in relation to load securing aimed at operators, consignors and drivers.

You can read the full guide here.
