Driving without a digital tachograph driver card costs operator almost 3,000 Euros.
An Enniscorthy company was fined 2,500 Euros and ordered to pay costs of 400 Euros excluding VAT for a tachograph offence in 2014 in one of its vehicles.
No digital driver card was present in the tachograph when it was stopped. The company claimed that the regular driver was sick and the replacement did not have a digital card at that stage.
The costs would pay for a tachograph analysis software solution such as Smartanalysis for 44 man years and would help them avoid prosecution and fines from potential tachograph offences.
