Traffic Commissioners Annual Report 2017-18

The annual report for 2017 to March 31st 2018 provides information on major aspects of the Traffic Commissioners’ judicial, regulatory and administrative roles. As independent regulators for the heavy goods vehicle (HGV) and public service vehicle (PSV) industries and their professional drivers it is well worth a read.

On tackling the non-compliant the report states that Earned Recognition will leave compliant operators to carry on their business. The task of intervening with high risk offenders remains vital and Earned Recognition will free up resources for the authorities to target the serially and seriously non-compliant operators. Descartes are a validated IT supplier for KPIs required for Earned Recognition with Smartanalysis, tachograph analysis and reporting. If you don’t already use Smartanalysis you can sign-up online for £40 per driver per year and gain access to Earned Recognition KPIs.

The numbers behind goods and PSV operators shows:

  • 81,303 licences
  • 474,110 vehicles
  • 1,400 public inquiries
  • 462 licences revoked or suspended
