The dedicated HGV Task Force (a joint venture with Transport for London (TfL), DVSA and the Police) issued over 600 prohibitions for un-roadworthy vehicles in just four months. It was reported in www.commercialmotor.com that since 1 October 2013, 1,512 vehicles have been stopped by the Task Force and only 27% were found to be satisfactory. Drivers hours’ breaches were the second biggest area of non-compliance with 450 prohibitions and verbal warnings issued and 19 vehicles were seized.
The London based Task Force targets operators using operator history, OCRS and other intelligence. The authorities will continue to focus on seriously and serially non-compliant commercial road transport operators.
