Address to be removed from Digital Driver Card
Posted by AndrewT on 21st Nov 2013
From December 2013 new Digital Driver Cards (Tachograph) issued by DVLA will no longer display an address.
DVLA is simplifying the process for commercial drivers changing the address on their driving licence and Digital Driver Card. If you move home from early December 2013 and need to change the address on your driving licence your tachograph card record should be updated automatically.
Roads Minister Robert Goodwill said “The government is determined to cut red tape and make lorry drivers’ lives easier. Removing the address from the tachograph card is a great example of this – it saves drivers time and it drives down costs.”
What do the changes mean to you?
If you have a driver card showing your address:
- Carry on using your existing card as it will still be valid until the expiry date.
- Apply as normal to change your name and/or address, or to renew or replace your card.
- You still need to tell DVLA about changes to your name and/or address, or to renew or replace your Digital Driver Card.
- But you do not need to make a separate application to update your driver card or need to return your card to DVLA.
