The DVLA has recently updated its guidance to help Medical Professionals assess their patients’ fitness to drive.
The new guide entitled ‘Assessing Fitness to Drive: a Guide for Medical Professionals’ replaces the “At a glance” guide. It is understood that the medical profession was consulted and research commissioned with a range of practitioners including GPs, nurses and consultants to improve the guidance provided.
So what has changed?
The DVLA say that they have made it clearer and easier for medical professionals to use with clear and consistent information. It includes new and updated advice on a number of medical conditions. And it makes it clearer about whether or not practitioners need to contact DVLA.
The new guidance can be downloaded or viewed on line by medical professional or individuals.
