HGV Driver banned for false tachograph records and drivers' hours infringements

The HGV driver was called to the Deputy Traffic Commissioner in Edinburgh in February after the authorities reported him for drivers’ hours infringements. He was originally pulled over by inspectors from the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) in February 2013.
The driver had taken insufficient breaks and created false records to hide the fact that he was exceeding drivers' hours regulations and the number of hours permitted behind the wheel.
42 offences were found on just 29 analogue tachograph charts, half of which were false records. Examining the vehicle odometer and tachograph charts revealed inconsistencies in the mileage reported.
The driver was banned from driving professionally for nine months.
