Updated vehicle safety check leaflets from DVSA
Posted by AndrewT on 29th Jan 2019
The Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) has updated its driver vehicle safety check leaflets. The updated leaflets provide guidance for carrying out daily safety checks on HGVs and PSVs.
The leaflets are a useful reminder for drivers on what checks must be carried out and record to ensure vehicles are safe to drive. At least one daily walkaround check of the whole vehicle must be made every 24 hours, usually before the vehicle is driven away. You can download the leaflets using the links below:

It has been reported that 85% of roadside prohibitions due to roadworthiness could have been avoided if an effected vehicle safety had taken place. Descartes SmartCheck provides a faster, safer and smarter way of conducting and recording essential daily vehicle safety checks. SmartCheck replaces the traditional paper-based book used to record walk-around checks and gives transport operators confidence that checks are conducted effectively. The data from any check is captured in real-time without the errors and delays of having to type data from forms when they are eventually returned to the depot. Any issues recorded can be dealt with in a timely fashion. Check out the features and benefits and find out more.
