£1,000 fine for 20 tachograph & drivers' hours offences

A licensed heavy goods vehicle operator was fined a total of £1,000 at Armagh Magistrates' Court last week after being found guilty of 20 offences relating to driver’ hours and use of the tachograph. The company was fined £50 for each offence.
The charges follow an in-depth tachograph investigation by the Driver & Vehicle Agency Compliance and Enforcement Section in Northern Ireland into the use of vehicles operated by the company between 27 February 2015 and 15 April 2015.
With tachograph analysis and compliance management solutions such as Smartanalysis available for just 25p per driver per working day the fine would have covered 4000 driver days and helped the operator maintain a clean record of compliance with the authorities.
