DVSA Update: Remote Tachograph Monitoring Trial to Continue

Following on from a previous post regarding a new trial introduced by the DVSA to remotely monitor digital tachographs. The DVSA has announced that the trial is set to continue until April 2023.

Originally set up in August 2022 the trial was created in the light of new technology available to the DVSA which enables roadside units to remotely monitor digital tachographs. The hope for the DVSA is that this will build up a picture of compliance levels around the country.

DVSA officers equipped with the RTSEs, which interface with the dedicated short-range communication (DSRC) technology on ‘smart tachographs’. Meaning, officers can detect when a vehicle is in motion without a tachograph card inserted.

In short it is more important than ever to ensure that your fleet is staying compliant in all areas. Plus crucially training your drivers and keeping them accountable for maintaining compliance when out on the road.
