A father and son were handed custodial sentences for operating an illegal tachograph centre at Craigavon Court 20 November 2013.

The sentences of two years six months, suspended for three years, for illegally operating a tachograph centre and an immediate custodial sentence consisting of two years six months for installing / calibrating tachograph equipment shows the courts take these offences very seriously.

The charges followed a joint investigation by the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) and Driver and Vehicle Agency (DVA) into the operation of Pedlow Tachograph Centre, 72 Annesborough Road, Lurgan.

The company had lost their licence to install or calibrate tachograph equipment in 2006 but continued to operate.  Around 1,100 vehicles had tachograph equipment fitted or calibrated illegally by the company which earned over £120,000 from the activities.

The defendants were jointly charged under The Common Law Offence of Conspiracy to Defraud.
