A new trade body, the Association for Driving Licence Verification (ADLV) has been launched to provide fleet users with responsible and secure access to DVLA driving licence data. The Association was formed in response to the upcoming abolition of the current driving licence paper counterpart. Descartes Systems UK Ltd is a member of this new association and are already an established provider of driver licence checking through the DVLA’s Electronic Driver Entitlement Checking Service [EDECS]. The ADLV will conduct regular audits of members and operate within a strict code of conduct to ensure that the DVLA’s data assurance standards are met and that the highest quality standards are maintained. Descartes’ SmartLicence service enables operators to schedule licence checks with DVLA in accordance with the risk profile of each driver. The Descartes’ SmartAlerts feature provides email alerts for driving licence changes following SmartLicence driving licence verifications with DVLA. As a member of ADLV fleet operators can be assured that the Descartes’ SmartLicence service ensures appropriate data access governed by strict compliance and protected by effective security, in line with the DVLA’s data assurance standards.
