New SmartAnalysis Driver CPC Module

Descartes is pleased to announce the availability of SmartAnalysis Driver CPC, a powerful and flexible on-line tool for recording and managing driver CPC.
Bus, coach and lorry drivers, after carrying out their initial qualification, are required to maintain their Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (DCPC) through regular periodic training carried out throughout a driver’s career. Periodic training consists of a minimum of 35 hours of approved periodic training, delivered by an approved training provider within each fixed five-year period. It is important that enough time is allowed to complete the training within the five-year period in order for a driver to be able to continue to drive in-scope vehicles. All drivers then have to continue to complete 35 hours of training within subsequent 5 year periods.
Whilst it is the driver’s responsibility to ensure that they undertake relevant training within the stated time periods and have obtained the required documentation, it is also the vehicle operator’s responsibility to ensure that the drivers they employ, whether directly or via an employment agency, have the relevant training and can produce evidence of DQC acquisition.
SmartAnalysis Driver CPC enables an operator to record details of courses completed by drivers and highlights those drivers who may not complete the required 35 hours within their 5 year period.
It can be used in conjunction with Descartes SmartLicence to ensure that the Driver CPC Expiry Date is up to date and drivers hold a valid licence.
If you want to monitor and track your drivers’ CPC periodic training then you need to enter details of Training Centres, Training Courses and course durations. These courses can then be assigned to a driver and the status of the course recorded (i.e. whether it is already completed or planned for a future date). Together with the Driver’s CPC expiry date, obtained by SmartLicence or manually entered, Descartes SmartAnalysis monitors the driver training progress towards 35 hours of periodic training and highlights those drivers who may not achieve their full 35 hours in the required timeline. You can then work with those drivers to ensure that they do complete their training as required.
SmartCompliance customers can get full details in the User Guide available on SmartAnalysis >Help>Support>User Guides.
