Traffic Commissioners Annual report 2018 to 2019

The annual report from the Traffic Commissioners office provides information on all the major aspects of their regulatory and judicial role. The 2018 to 2019 report has just been published. The TCs remain focussed on promoting safe road transport operations, highlighting the value of compliance and maintaining fairness between road transport operators. The report reveals that:
  • Brake failures are the most common reason for MOT failures.
  • 873 public inquiries were conducted with goods vehicle operators (up from 810 the previous year) resulting in 451 operator licence revocation or suspension and disqualification of 139 transport managers.
  • With bus and coach operators 166 public enquiries were conducted resulting in 76 licence revocations or suspension and disqualification of 23 transport managers.
