Dead man's tachograph card
Posted by AndrewT on 19th Feb 2021
In a recent case reported in Commercial Motor a sole trader found using a dead brother’s digital tachograph drivers card to exceed drivers’ hours limits has had the HGV operators licence revoked and was disqualified for three years by the Traffic Commissioner.
The DVSA found that the card had been used on three separate occasions after the owner of the card had died six months earlier.
Sole traders and small operators should manage their tachograph data and compliance with drivers' hours. Using a tachograph analysis service such as SmartAnalysis makes this task much easier and small operators can take advantage of a 14 month subscription for the price of 12 months which is just £3.43 a week, see here.
