DVSA extends period for VU digital tachograph downloads

Posted by AndrewT on 11th Aug 2015

The maximum limit for downloading digital tachograph VU data has been extended from 56 to 90 days to bring the UK in line with the rest of the EU. Operators of both goods and passenger vehicles now have up to 90 days to download digital VU data from the digital tachograph.  However operators should continue to download their VU data every 56 days or sooner to be able to deal with any issues or infringements such as missing mileage in a timely manner. Transport Operators that already subscribe to Smartanalysis can amend the number of days in the DTCO VU Download Submission report to notify them of vehicles that have not downloaded data over the defined period they require. The default period will remain at 56 days. For help and advice with Smartanalysis reports please contact servicedesk@descartes.com. Digital driver card data will still need to be downloaded within 28 days. The EC regulation allowing the 90 day download limit across the rest of the EU was introduced in 2010. For help in managing your digital tachograph data to be compliant with the regulations see Smartanalysis.
